DescriptionSamuel Mellison (1849-1927) served many years in the Everett Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain. Mellison was known as a veteran of the Civil War, frontiersman, western trail blazer, and leading pioneer of Snohomish County. Mellison considered William "Buffalo Bill" Cody as a close personal friend. When Buffalo Bill visited Everett in September 1908, the two enjoyed a fond reunion. Mellison is buried next to his wife, Bessie Mellison (1859-1926)
