NotesDeclaring its own name and construction date from an escutcheon atop the facade, the McCrossen Building has retained much of its architectual integrity. Ground was broken July 23, 1894. It was built for local grocers Thayer and McCrossen and served as alocal lpost office for a brief period in the 1890s. While the architect has not been traced, the building isimportant as an architectural relic of the Rockefeller era.
