DescriptionBoth Edith (1903-1995) and Jean Bedal (1907-1997) worked to preserve their Native American roots. Born to homesteader James Bedal and Susie Wa-Wet-kin, the Bedal sisters were home schooled on their homestead, southeast of Darrington, worked as horse packers and guides. Mostly they learned the lessons that nature and good parents and teachers taught them. They gained recognition for the Sauk-Seattle tribe and wrote their history.
